Sauvignon Blanc Kalk & Kreide Südsteiermark DAC (2021)

Tement Winery, Austria

13.5 %vol. / 0.75 lt

The Sauvignon Blanc grapes used for this Southern Styrian regional wine mature, as the name suggests, on mineral limestone soils and are hand-harvested at optimal ripeness. In the cellar, the grapes undergo spontaneous fermentation, and the wine then rests on the fine lees in stainless steel tanks for six months. This wine has been rated 93/100 points by Falstaff and 92/100 points by James Suckling.

This Sauvignon Blanc reveals on the nose hints of gooseberry, stone fruit, elderberry, and also some mineral undertones. On the palate, the wine is precisely clear with pleasant fruit notes of ripe pear, gooseberry, a touch of blackcurrant, and a mineral, saline touch. The finish is persistent with a good drinking flow. This wine pairs exceptionally well with fish dishes or light summer meals.
