The 2013 special edition was produced in collaboration with the US conservation organization Ducks Unlimited. A portion of the proceeds goes towards the protection of American wetlands.
After distillation, the Jack Daniel's Ducks Unlimited 2013 Single Barrel undergoes the so-called Lincoln County Process, also known as Charcoal Mellowing. During this process, the whiskey is passed through a stack of maple charcoal for six days before barrel aging. This filtration gives the Tennessee whiskey a particularly smooth taste.
Afterward, it matures for several years in charred oak barrels.
