The Blackened x Willett originated from the collaboration between distiller Drew Kulsveen and the band Metallica. During their visit to Willett's Distillery, the band members decided to create a 'black' whiskey. The Straight Rye received its finish in Madeira casks. It was bottled in matte black bottles with an alcohol content of 54.8% by volume.

The aging process in old barrels bestowed the Blackened x Willett with its rich copper-red hue. On the nose, condensed nuances of vanilla pods, cigars, figs, corn cobs, brown sugar, and stewed rhubarb unfold. During the tasting, an unusual quartet of caramel, mint, butter, and raspberries takes center stage. In the crowning finish, rye, pepper, walnuts, and cinnamon butter prevail. This Straight Rye Whiskey rightfully bears the name 'Blackened,' but its aromatic qualities are truly invaluable. It is recommended to serve the Blackened x Willett Straight Rye over ice.
