The distillery, founded by Ralph Erenzo in 2003, was the first distillery in the state of New York after the Prohibition. In 2017, Tuthilltown Spirits was acquired by William Grant & Sons.
The typography and colors of the Hudson Whiskey label are inspired by the New York City subway system.
Produced according to the standards of the Empire Rye Whiskey Association, at least 75% of the mash consists of rye grown in the state of New York. The whiskey is distilled to a maximum of 80% alcohol by volume and matures for at least two years in charred oak barrels.
