"Cihuatan" translates to "Land next to the sleeping woman" and is the name of a Maya city, the archaeological remains of which can be visited near the distillery.
According to legend, a goddess is said to have bestowed particularly fertile soils upon the population here. Today, sugarcane grows on the soils of the region, which the distillery uses for its rum.
The company places great importance on craftsmanship and quality, producing the rum in small quantities.
