Our Burgweine Enk Altstätten Range

The Burg vineyard Enk is situated in an elevated and beautiful location above Altstätten and is currently managed by Josef Enk and his wife Monika, continuing the legacy in its fourth generation. The approximately 0.72 hectares are positioned on a south-facing slope below the castle, with sandy clay soil and sandstone rocks. The vines are nurtured and cared for with great passion by the Enk family. Read more

The variety of this small vineyard predominantly consists of 38-year-old Pinot Noir and Müller-Thurgau vines. These two grape varieties are typical for Eastern Switzerland. About 10 years ago, Josef decided to replace a few old Pinot Noir vines with the Zweigelt grape variety, originally Austrian, and now cultivates 0.12 hectares with this variety. The pressing and aging process is carried out by a contract winemaker in consultation with Josef Enk. The aim is to produce authentic wines characteristic of the region.
